Porti System
Stationary & Ambulatory System
for EEG or Polysomnography

Versatile, scalable, unsurpassed
signal quality
The
Porti is a multi-channel ambulatory and stationary system for
physiological research. The Porti can have unipolar
electrophysiological inputs (ExG), bipolar electro-physiological
inputs (BIP) and auxiliary inputs (AUX). The unipolar
electro-physiological inputs are configured as a reference
amplifier: all channels are amplified against the average of all
connected inputs. Using these channels, signals like: EEG, EMG,
ECG, EOG, EGG etc. can be measured. The bipolar
electro-physiological inputs are used to measure two
physiological signals differentially to each other. Signals like
ECG, EMG or EOG can be measured this way. The auxiliary inputs
can be used for measuring sensor signals like temperature, pH,
respiration, movements, force, angle, etc. Each of these
channels has a +5V and -5V output in order to use active sensors
or sensor modules. For the measurement of oxygen saturation a
special serial input is available. A digital trigger input can
also be included.
The Porti system can be equipped having
different number of input channels. Porti's with 8, 16, 24 and
32 channels are available.
The Porti can be used for both stationary as
well as ambulatory measurements. In stationary setup an external
power supply, which plugs into the mains socket, powers the
Porti. The Porti is connected to a PC by means of a
bi-directional glass fiber. It is also possible to use the
built-in BlueTooth telemetry to send the data directly to a PC,
a PDA or a mobile phone. Please note that the bandwidth may be
limited when using the telemetry option. When the Porti is used
ambulatory, it is always powered by batteries. Measured data is
written to a flash disk. After a recording is ended a PC or
notebook reads out the memory card, making the measurement data
available for further analysis.
The design of the Porti integrates the true DC
reference amplifier. The active shielding guarantees optimal
signal quality, no mains or other interference and complete
absence of movement artifacts. Since the system includes no
hardware filtering, all amplifier channels are identical and can
be used for any desired signal.
The Porti can be carried in a pouch on the
subject's belt and is powered by 6 or 12 AA batteries in
ambulatory mode.
